In a special Town Council meeting Monday, November 18, 2019, trash bids were reviewed from three companies. The bids were taken when the existing contract with Republic Services was canceled due to a proposed price increase.
After some discussion, the Council voted to accept the Washler bid with the option of once a year, curbside, large item pickup for 15.65 a month. This saves a few cents over the initial increase proposal from Republic. Washler was the lowest of the 3 bidders.
The positive is that there will be curbside large item collection once a year, instead of the single-site pickup the Town currently has in the spring. There is also potential savings to Waste Water Department.
The Town Council expressed gratitude to Mr. Smith for his and Republic’s service over the years.
